The excitement about the return of Big Nuz seems to have been short-lived despite the group releasing a hit late last year.

It has emerged that it has become difficult to replace the group’s members R Mashesha and Mampintsha who have died.

Only one member of Big Nuz, Danger whose real name is Mzi Tshomela, remains.

In an effort to keep the fires burning, Danger has recruited former kwaito group Teddy Bears member Shayo.

The duo perform together wherever Big Nuz are invited. The Purpose has since established that they are close friends.

According to sources close to them, Danger and Shayo’s relationship is strong and goes back to when they stayed together in Yeoville, Johannesburg.

“We used to stay together in Yeoville. When Shayo returned to Durban he teamed up with DBN Nytes ex members.

“They established a new group called Nu Era. Danger and Shayo’s relationship became stronger when they reunited,” said the source.

Furthermore, the duo continued to work together on the track titled Versace. On this song Danger featured Tira, L’vovo, Tipcee and Shayo.

When contacted, Danger confirmed that Shayo is currently working with him.

“Shayo is streetwise from kudala. I decided to bring him closer. If you remember carefully, on 16 December last year Mampintsha was already ill.

“It happened that I went to a gig in KwaMashu to perform and I bumped into Shayo.

“We reconnected and started entertaining people. I am so glad people love him,” said Danger.

He highlighted that one day he wishes to see him prosper as a solo artist. An excited Shayo told The Purpose  that Danger has been good to him.

“I am feeling good to be a part of Big Nuz even though nothing is signed in black and white yet.

“We grew up looking up to them. I started to involve myself with Big Nuz just after Mampitsha got sick in December,” explained Shayo.
